Sarah Burns
multi media

Professor of Art - Herron School of Art, IUPUI, 1958-1996.  Taught painting, color theory, drawing, woodcut, and silkscreen printing.

Now I work with acrylic painting, colored pencil drawing, collage, mixed media, computer art, polymer clay, handmade paper, funky jewelry, and fabric.  Obviously I am not a media based artist. Even if it involves learning a new skill, I use whatever medium that will best express the idea.  Some of my work is based on landscapes, but they are abstract. I concentrate on what it feels like to be in that place at the time rather than what it looks like, using only a few realistic "slues" to set the scene.  Most of my work is non-objective, i.e. concentrated on line, shape, color, texture, and placement to convey the feeling/message/idea that pleases me.
