Dusky Loebel - Jewelry

I combine fused glass and sterling silver in my jewelry, drawing upon the depth and color of glass and the form and structure of metal. Many of my pieces feature a natural image translated into silver, which I then bezel-mount on a fused glass background to create an organic whole. I completely hand-fabricate all of my metal, and I deeply-layer my glass, firing it many times to smooth and finish it perfectly.

After learning to fuse glass at the Indianapolis Art Center, I went on to study advanced glass techniques, and I continue to take metalsmithing classes - there's so much to learn! I have exhibited in many Midwestern juried art shows, including Broad Ripple Art Fair, Talbot Street Art Fair, Penrod, Round the Fountain Art Fair, Cincinnati Winterfair and Summerfair, and Art Fair on the Square in Bloomington.  I also have extensive experience teaching writing and literature at the university level. Now I teach fused glass classes and workshops and am very happy to be able to exhibit my work at Art IN Hand gallery, a few blocks from where I live in Zionsville.
