Taylor Walker

Taylor is a Fine Artist & Illustrator specializing in Expressionist painting, with her favorite mediums being watercolor, acrylic, encaustic, and colored pencil. Although she's a self-taught artist, she attended Purdue University where she received a BA in Graphic Design. In 2020, like most of the world, she reevaluated her priorities and decided to take the plunge and pursue her life-long passion of being a full-time artist.

Being an Expressionist painter means she uses bright, exaggerated, (often rainbow )color and paint splatter to create her highly saturated and invigorating paintings. She's inspired by bright color, nature and animals, with most of her work centralizing around wildlife. Her range is vast and so is her style, that's why you'll always be surprised to see what she's brought to the gallery; will it be The Oasis series (her bold, high-contrast Jungle & Ocean environments) or the dark and mysterious moody florals, or perhaps her light and airy watercolor wildlife paintings?!

In 2021 Taylor became recognized as an Indiana Artisan Watercolorist, which means her watercolors are considered to be among the best in Hoosier craftsmanship; you can find them at both the Carmel & French Lick locations. Her work is also across the street at CCA Gallery & Gifts, and All Things Carmel on Main Street in the Arts & Design District. She serves as the Vice President of Talbot Street Art Fair and on the committee Fourth Street Art Festival.  Taylor is also a diehard animal lover who's passionate about supporting her local community; that's why she participates annually in The Indianapolis Zoo's Naturally Inspired Paint Out event, and fundraises with Indy Humane, Hamilton County Humane Society, and the Exotic Feline Rescue Center. She believes that her talent should support the greater good of improving animal welfare, both domestic and exotic.

Taylor lives in Carmel with her husband, Bryan, and their 5 kitties. When she's not painting she loves canoeing, exercising, decorating, and enjoying a good glass of Pinot Noir at local wineries. Stay up to date with her latest work by following her @tayloredillustration
